A Core Value

Sustainability & Vantia

At VANTIA Hardwoods & Interiors, sustainability isn’t just a trend — it’s a core value. We are passionate about craftsmanship, timeless design, and protecting the natural resources that make our work possible. That’s why we’ve chosen to partner with innovative manufacturers like mafi, Scheucher, and Bjelin, Tierra, and why we proudly offer reclaimed wood and barnwood sustainable flooring options as well.

Every material we source and every brand we carry reflects our commitment to responsible forestry, eco-conscious production, and a healthier future — for your home and for the planet.

Reclaimed Wood & Barnwood: A Story of Preservation

In addition to new wood flooring from sustainably managed forests, VANTIA offers reclaimed wood and authentic barnwood — each board with its own history, character, and timeless texture.

  • Waste Reduction: Reclaimed wood repurposes existing materials, reducing the demand for freshly harvested timber and lowering environmental impact.
  • Carbon Conscious: Salvaging old wood avoids the emissions associated with milling and transporting new materials.
  • One-of-a-Kind Aesthetic: Nail holes, weathered grain, and rich patina tell a story no new flooring can replicate — perfect for adding warmth and soul to both modern and traditional spaces.

We work with trusted suppliers who responsibly source barnwood from historical structures, ensuring authenticity, quality, and ethical reclamation practices.

    Sustainability FAQs

What makes VANTIA’s eco-friendly flooring options sustainable?

What makes VANTIA’s eco-friendly flooring options sustainable? We partner exclusively with manufacturers who prioritize responsible forestry, low-emission production, and innovative technologies that reduce waste. Brands like mafi, Scheucher, Bjelin, and Tierra lead the way in sustainable practices — from FSC-certified wood and natural finishes to circular design and a carbon-conscious manufacturing process.

What certifications should I look for when choosing sustainable flooring?
Look for third-party certifications like FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council), GREENGUARD Gold, and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). These validate responsible sourcing, indoor air quality standards to avoid toxic chemicals, and environmental transparency — all of which are met by the brands we carry.
Is engineered hardwood a more sustainable option than solid hardwood?

In many ways, yes. Engineered hardwood uses a thinner layer of high-quality wood over a core of fast-growing, more sustainable materials. This means more flooring material can be produced from fewer trees, reducing the demand on old-growth forests while maintaining the beauty and durability of real wood.

What is reclaimed wood, and why is it sustainable?

Reclaimed wood is made from recycled materials salvaged from old barns, factories, or historic buildings and repurposed for flooring. Because it’s being reused rather than newly harvested, reclaimed wood reduces waste and preserves natural resources — all while adding rich character and history to your space.

Are natural oil finishes better for the environment?

Yes. Natural oil finishes are free of harmful chemicals and allow wood to breathe, enhancing indoor air quality. These natural material finishes are also easier to maintain and repair, which extends the life of your floors and reduces the need for harsh treatments or replacements.

How does VANTIA ensure its products are responsibly sourced?

We vet every brand we work with for transparency, sustainability certifications, a thoughtful manufacturing process, and ethical sourcing practices. Our partners commit to reforestation efforts, energy-efficient production, and supply chains that respect both the environment and the communities they impact.

Can sustainable flooring still be stylish?

Absolutely. A sustainable choice and style go hand in hand at VANTIA. Our curated selection of hardwood floors includes everything from warm, rustic barnwood to sleek, minimalist engineered planks — all designed to meet the highest environmental standards without compromising on aesthetics.
